Waitlist blank

When will the waitlist be searchable so I know when I'll get my glasses?

Pre-ordered Dec 2015. Been very patient..

The more important question is when will they finally decide to go on production and deliver the glasses cause as of now the status is still "delayed". It's starting to be worrying when the estimated delivery time kept changing and now seems to be on hold indefinitely.

Maybe I'm being paranoid but looking at the Alpha pre-order still on going felt like things aren't moving at all since Corey mentioned that they already have enough sample size for Alpha testing but they are still inviting pre-orders. To top it off, the alpha project supposed to be completed by this year and the beta would be release early next year but production has not even started for Alpha.

Hey guys, I made a couple changes to the site yesterday and a few of the changes did not line up. There are a few glitches I'm trying to get fixed. The order status will be working again this afternoon.

As for development, nothing is on hold indefinitely. We are just trying a few more things out. I'd like to reiterate, that we are creating a world first product in terms of optics, manufacturigng, and overall form-factor. We really just want to make sure we have a solid start. Alpha develop has pretty much been complete for about 3 months, there are some things in aseembly that we are tweaking. Beta development will start pretty soon as well.

Patience and support are all we are asking for at this point. Hardware development is not as forgiving as software development. If we could do "over the air" changes to software we would have shipped this in October.

@Corey

Appreciate your effort but I believe all the backers at this point would just want to get a hold of something tangible after so long rather than 'positive updates' about the progression. Look man, we are not expecting the Alpha to be the perfect product and I believe no one is dumb enough to complain about a version of a product that is literally supposed to be on testing phase as long as it is SAFE to wear.

Personally, I'm still eager while waiting patiently for the release of Alpha but I hope you could deliver all the Alpha [Rev 1 to 3] by the end of summer (as advertise on laforgexd) or at least by early Q4. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't rush the Beta version like I said before. I may not represent everyone here but I think everyone would want you to work on the Beta version rather than the Alpha cause Beta is the actual product that everyone is signing up for while Alpha is like a first look and in a way to "support" your project by testing and giving feedback to better create the final product.

Also, just curious on why the pre-order is still on going even though the sample size for Alpha is more than enough. Shouldn't you guys be working on closing Alpha and moving forward to work on Beta pre-order while getting feedback and test results from your sample size?

FYI :- I think there is a typo on Alpha Rev3 on "In-the-box", which states Shima Rev2 Digital Eyewear.

@holypredator: The purpose of the internal review is to make sure that the device is safe from an ophthalmics (eye health) perspective. This is something that everyone (except for microsoft) is ignoring. Beta won't be rushed, but it also won't take that long either. Alpha is the most imprtant phase for us which is why it is taking a while. Alpha is about human factors: beta is a about scale, regulatory compliance, and partnerships. To put it another way, alpha development has cost us about $2,000,000 and 24 months beta should cost about $300,000 and about 6-8 months. When there are more knowns and less skepticsim, things costs less.

To be clear we are not trying to make alpha perfect, we just have certain internal goals and requirements before releasing a product. If you were build a car with a wobbly wheel, no matter how new or innovative it is (or how much all the other parts work fine) all people will talk about is the wobbly wheel.

The reason why we are leaving pre-orders open is because, we closed it once before and we get pounded with emails, pleas, and complaints from people who still want to get in.

People will be gettign products from us soon. Our team has conversations about lens develpment every week. We want the product out and it will be shipped.

@Corey

Ophthalmics perspective and most importantly the device does not spontaneously combust or the battery exploding (Any other issue that may cause physical harm).

A deadline should be set for the pre-order campaign though. If they miss the train, they should go for the next (Beta or beyond).

Missed being part of the Legacy group by 7 spots. Not gonna lie, kinda sucks to not be part of that group. been pre-ordered for almost 2 years.

What exactly are modest difference between rev 1 and 2.?

It's mostly a change in material. We are switching from STL (3D print) to injection molded metal and plastic parts. They won't be as sensitive. The optics in the lenses will also be a bit more chrisp.

Corey, just wondering what's the time gap for delivery between Rev 1, Rev 2 and Rev 3? Will it be a long wait between each Rev?

@holy: don't know yet what the wait will be between each rev. Things are fluid as we are going to be rolling out changes once they are ready. We are going to be very careful with each release so we can better respond to problems.

    It's awful. I have to re-login constantly. The notifications bell drop-down doesn't work anymore. There's no good way to view the newest posts. The formatting is annoying, injecting styling for which I never asked and do no want. I could go on.

    Hey Laforge/Corey, any way I could stop by and check the place out? 👀 Came up from Texas for a weekend trip and remembered you were up here.
