How do we get the Audio

8 comments

Is there a provision for audio output like earbuds or some sort of bone conduction technology integrated into the alpha or the beta/beta bold version of glasses?

There is an aux jack at the end of one of the arms that you can plug a headset into. If you would use that, I would recommend you looking for a headset like the one that comes with the Playstation VR. Short on one side and long to reach around the neck to the other ear. Google it.

Alright,

But I would suggest if you can get bone conduction into the arms of the glasses, I believe it will the product will be the ultimate showstopper for the decade atleast👑

I too love using a bone conduction headset, and hope to see the tech in a future product. Unfortunately, it's not possible to fit it into Shima at bo-co's current stage of development. It's too big.

@Ayushman Verma

Bone conduction just doesn't sound as good as regular "air conduction", and they need a lot more battery power.

In any case, you just plug in your prefered earphones, so if bone conduction headsets are your thing, just go for those.

Considering battery life and spatial volume constraints, I'm pretty happy that Laforge has opted out of built-in earphones. I've actually wondered why they've included a headphone jack in the glasses at all, considering that any sound will be coming from our smartphone regardless...

I don't really listen to music, and I'd rather have a mic built into the frame to complement the camera in the Beta Bold, as opposed to the audio jack.

My secondary concern is my island often gets hard rainfall. While the mic may pose a small chance at ruining it's survivability, having a earphone jack would be greater so....at least that how I'm feeling about it (less so if it has one of those rubber plug covers)

Right, and yes there will be covers that blend to the rest of the frame.

Shima will have a water resistance rating.

Awesomeness all around. Now to play the waiting game...

    It's awful. I have to re-login constantly. The notifications bell drop-down doesn't work anymore. There's no good way to view the newest posts. The formatting is annoying, injecting styling for which I never asked and do no want. I could go on.

    Hey Laforge/Corey, any way I could stop by and check the place out? 👀 Came up from Texas for a weekend trip and remembered you were up here.
